Beyond This Horizon - Beyond This Horizon

The Fabric of Imagination!

December 16th 2006 08:14
The Dream Maker

I am transparent drifting in the paths of rain and wind.
I am the searcher lost in the whispering depths of memory.
I am the wanderer caught in glancing reflections of midnight.
All this shall catch me up and lift me in the swirl of vision
Mounting the birth of a bright new day.

Have you ever wondered in the depths of night
Why our lives turn and spin in seeming chaos
Leaving us with questions unasked --
With dreams unfulfilled?
Since the earliest dawn man has been watching
Searching for an understanding light

That will both warmth and comfort bring.

In the struggle to comprehend the bright
Elusive promise that will spark a rebirth of faith
We open a fragment of reason to illuminate our care
To lift our spirits through the pain of empty days
And the darkness echoing through despair.
Out of our grey convoluted place in the labyrinth
There is a path stretching upwards into the bright
Mysterious blue -- misty, indistinct tantalisingly brief
In our perception. And as we reach to enjoy
This encounter with succulent relief
Time is illusion
Our stay is short beyond belief.

We sense the world pulling us back from the womb
Crying our frustration as we are turned once more
Into a place of inanity as it percolates and tumbles us
Through the entrails of our existence -- a journey
Which may amuse some with its irony and acerbic wit
But can irritate, wound and blind us with a promise
That we cannot reach. With a direction we cannot follow.
Why then shall we engage in this aching pit?
This eternal struggle to make some sanity exist
To come to grips with a reality of sharp corners

And traps which encumber and trip us as we pass.

Yet in the distance we can sense a faint bemusement
A smile wrapped in an enigma as it encourages us
To strive, to continue -- to struggle to find our way
Knowing that it is pointless to give direction
That there is no one true path which may
Give rhyme or reason to our perceived objective.
That we must our own life value bring
To make the journey worth the effort
And the remembering.

Then faintly comes again the song, wistful and lonely
As if to thread the distance between us.
I am the dark fires of the desert sand lifted by the winds at sunset.
I am the curling seas crested by the waves in the bosom of the night.
I am the black steel ebony of the sky split by a multitude of stars.

I am the Dream Maker who paints the night with impossible visions
Filling your mind with a confection of unattainable fantasy.
I am the reason for your existence.
I am your destiny.
