Social Networking Suggestions Replacing Travel Experts

Could the travel industry be the next in a long line of industries changed by the internet?Gone are the days when you would sit across the desk from a stranger and accept their suggestions for your vacation itinerary.

So where is this next generation of experts coming from?

Check your social networking friend's list. Many are turning to Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter for vacation tips.


Chances are you have online friends or friends who have friends that live near your planned destination. What better travel suggestions but from those that share your interests? Wouldn't you trust your friend's list much better than a stranger who may be in search of a big commission?

The saying that if you want the best restaurant suggestions that you should "follow the locals and not the tourists" has always worked out well for me in the past.

So the next time you are planning a big trip or even a weekend getaway give your online experts a say in your choices.
