Sharks! Up Close From A Moving Walkway
August 11th 2009 02:08
I felt inspired from all the hoopla surrounding Shark Week to embark on my own personal shark expedition. Being a terrible swimmer and not liking danger all that much, I chose to visit Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Ripleys was recently voted the number aquarium in America by the readers of TripAdvisor.com. With fame comes visitors and there were hundreds of tourists the day that we visited. If you are patient however, you can get a glimpse of all the awesome sea creatures that make this aquarium so popular. The highlight for most, including me, was the shark tunnel. What makes this tunnel so great is the 300 foot moving walkway that ensures each and every visitor equal viewing time.
The aquarium also boasts a "petting" tank, a first class restaurant, hands on learning activities, and various events like camping with the sea creatures throughout the year.
