Sharing the Dream

When we were created we were given a wonderful gift -- the gift of complete freedom of choice.
There were no restrictions placed on us. We do as we choose. Of course there are consequences to our actions and unlike other animals, we are able to view these consequences before they happen.
Our conscience allows us to view future life choices in terms of what we can do and what will happen as a result. What makes the process more interesting is that he has allowed us to think differently. In the same situation, different people make different assessments, pass different judgements and makes choices which vary. And then he caps it all off by making it possible for opposing views to have equal validity.
In other words, we are allowed to have different backgrounds, different ways of looking at things, different beliefs and both be true and faithful while taking opposing positions.
There is both irony and humour to this. There is also tragedy however when certain individuals or groups decide that THEIR way is the RIGHT way. From such paths come wars, destruction, hatred, violence and lovely terms such as ethnic cleansing and killing your brother in the name of religeous freedom.
Yasser Arrafat once said: "You are killing each other over who has the best imaginary friend." Then he went on to make the same mistake. Because we can see the truth doesn't mean we can always act on it.
