Leland, MS: Birthplace Of Jim Henson and Kermit The Frog
September 26th 2009 02:38
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the small town of Leland, MS, a small city just east of Greenville on the Mississippi Delta. The town served as the boyhood home of Muppet creator Jim Henson. It was growing up along the banks of Deer Creek with his best friend Kermit that Henson's mind and later his voice and hands created a small green frog that has entertained millions across ethnic and generational lines.
It just grows to prove that greatness can come from anywhere. Without this great man there would not have been the Muppets of course, but also Star Wars and E.T. may have been totally different movies. There is no way to count the number of puppets that Henson created and even more the number of people live's that he touched.
