Doing Damage is NOT Enough!
February 7th 2007 03:47
Too often in the past, Howard has managed to pull off a very plausible con. These are most often based on fashionable furphies based on the paranoia of a conservative boned electorate. Remember the child overboard controversy? Howard et al parked the blame
anywhere and everywhere except where it should have been -- in their own back yard.
The spin-doctoring within the Liberal Party is so pervasive and so professionally done that the real germs of truth often get buried in the confusion. The mantras repeated time and again (and with great conviction) are:
1 Would these lips lie?
2 You can trust us, we're professionals.
3 We are the financially credible party. Look at inflation!!
4 Why change? Trust the winning combination.
This of course ignores the excesses of the Liberal Party. It shies away from the truth that the current government has destroyed the relationship between the employers and the unions or that it has made Australia a laughing stock in matters pertaining to the environment
and green-house gases.
When the government is seen without the lies and camouflage, it is a different animal, rather feral and unattractive at best.
What we have to keep in focus is that Howard and his sidemen are very convincing, even when they are selling a bowl of old swill.
It is not enough to damage them. They need to be buried and in concrete shoes. After that, the burial ground should be covered in top soil and trees planted. The one thing we can be sure of, Liberal politicians make good fertiliser. We know this. They have been spouting the stuff for years and then trying to sell it -- to us to eat.
It's time to change our diet. Even swill has a use by date.
